The Pot of Gold……

1967rvn001webMy long title for this is:

The Pot of Gold That Never Was & The Lessons We never Learned…

The is a photo of a portion of my company’s position just south of the DMZ, in Quảng Trị Province – Viet-Nam. I took it in 1967 shortly before returning to the States. To me it is a visual metaphor for the mess we are in right now.

    Thank you for your service!

  2. Amazing picture, Christian…I find it hard to imagine being so clearly in harm’s way at a time when I was having a crazy time in total safety…it’s only people like your good self who realise just how close we’re getting.

    • Ya, thanks Roger – I was surprised I got the picture. Took it with my Nikonos. Remember those! Of course, no light meter or any fancy stuff like that. It was the only camera that could withstand the rain and mud and jungle. Had to throw all my others away. By the way, I think this is proof positive that you were the saner one!!!

  3. Yes, we never learn, Christian. Hopefully one day we’ll find the answer and live in peace. Love the Peter, Paul and Mary video!
