“The Island Hotel….”


20141206_7112nikcwebOne of my favorite quotes concerning the hotel is from a 1973 National Geographic article about Cedar Key and the hotel. It goes something like this: “...Some of its weathered buildings are boarded up, but the 115-year-old Island Hotel still offers the shade of its balcony and its unique hospitality to the passing stranger.
When I entered, a woman named Maggie was curled up on a sofa in the lobby. When I told her that I was a wandering journalist, she said, “Please go away. Do not write about Cedar Key.”
I am sorry, Maggie, but here goes….”

    The impression of this image is gentle and ‘welcoming’ . What I like the most beside the overall impression are the steps upwards to the entry and the window in the right corner up indicating someone is present. Maybe meaningless details but for me nice to see them.
