“Had to Stop…”

20141105_6869Panoramaweb copy…this morning to do some photos of Herman Wells’s saw mill – again – this time, a more detailed looks, not photographing while riding by. Mr. Wells has a woodworking shop in town, and makes great cypress outdoor furniture. He also used to build wooden bird-dog boats, but has not done so in years. We like his furniture so much that we have two of his Adirondack  chairs in our living room.

My intention was to turn this into a black and white, but when I looked at the files I was taken with the fantastic interplay of colors and textures. The sand/clay particularly caught my attention. This location is what we call around here ‘out in the woods.’ If you were to stand where I am standing here on some sunny August afternoon, chances are you would pass out from the heat and humidity after about 15 minutes. It can be brutal on the body.

[I recommend clicking on the photo to see it large]
