“Plain Brown Wrapper…”

20131101_4419web…well, not quite plain. This afternoon I designed this sleeve to go around the books of the first edition. I still have to order sealing wax and a seal, which I want to affix to the back of the wrapper.
I am really happy with how well the cover works. The pages lay pretty flat when opening the book, and the interleaven tissue is just the right seize.

  1. Dave says:

How much will you be selling the books for?

    • Hi Dave, the short answer is $65.00
The long answer is that this edition is ‘spoken for.’ I do have one of the artist’s proofs for sale at that price at our exhibition space in town.
Frankly, I don’t really know what to do about it, and how to price it, or whether to even offer it for sale. On the one hand $65.00 seems pretty high for a book [I would be VERY reluctant to pay it]. On the other hand it is a ridiculously low price, considering the work that goes into making it.
I wish there were an easy answer!

  2. The open books have a very good look to them….it’s been a really successful project. Congratulations.

They’re worth every cent, Christian. Great to see these images presented in this way.

  4. Thank you Simon! I just made some more covers this afternoon – still having problems keeping the occasional spot of glue off the cover! :)
