“Those were the days…”

…of 29 cents a gallon gasoline. This is the b&w version of one of my Florida Highway [19/98] images. It is along the highway, not too far south of Tallahassee. There is really no sign of a gas station having been right below the sign. Since the structure seems to not have allowed horizontal expansion at the top, I am inclined to think that the sign is from the days when gas prices were way below a dollar a gallon.

  1. Just a memory now, Christian. Cool picture.

  2. I love the texture of these old signs, all that peeled paint and faded color. Beautiful.

    • Whoever owns the property there must feel the same way because the grounds are well taken care of, and obviously the sign has not been messed with – should really give it landmark status!
