This is where the little darkroom is in which I have developed all these paper negatives. The Center is right across from the Library and catty corner from our City Hall. Standing on the porch of the Arts Center it amuses me to think that it’s nice to live in a town where the Arts Center, Library and Historical Society buildings are all bigger than City Hall.
This is an infra-red photo I took in 1990 of the building that is now the Arts Center. At that time it housed the Keyhole Arts Cooperative out of which the Arts Center grew. Prior to that it had been an auto-parts store. The artist who had been the mover and shaker behind the arts cooperative bought the building, expanded it and then she donated the grounds and building to the people of Cedar Key in the form of a non-profit organization, an extremely generous ‘gesture,’ wouldn’t you say!
Well, the left-over Christmas lights I mentioned in one of the previous posts are also hanging from the bottom of the porch of the Arts Center. I don’t think I notice them anymore when I look at the building. they are a bit obvious in this photo. They do look ok at night though! If you look closely you can see my bicycle parked in the ‘drive-way’ of the Center.
Here are all the pinhole images on my experimental website.
