Over the Holidays I have had a chance to reflect on the Cyanotype work I have been doing, and I was also able to get some series feed-back. Frankly I was surprised how supportive and positive it was – a good reason to return to work with new energy and focus. It also dawned on me that most of the prints I had been making dealt with barriers and an attempted passage through these, be they of fabric or glass. While my working with them was probably a bit subconscious, and even a bit of luck, I very much agree with the symbolism, and I am eager to do some new work in that vain.
I was truly ‘incommunicado’ during the holidays, and I apologize for neglecting to comment on, or even review the posts of those whom I am following. When I returned to the computer there was so much mail, junk-mail, and blog posts, that I simply had to ignore them, and ‘wipe the slate clean’ or I would have gone crazy. I am sending my best wishes for a Happy New Year to all of you who have been ‘following’ me and whose blogs I regularly read. Many thanks for all your support & let’s all have a productive and rewarding year!
That really is wonderful, it looks like you trapped her in the picture, very intense. I hope you have a great festive season and all the best for a productive and inspirational new year.
Hi Brendan, many thanks for your supportive feed-back, and best wishes for a productive year to you also!
Happy New Year, Christian. Marvellous print and symbolism. Love the outstretched hand.
A million thanks Simon!!!!
I believe it the Artists’ duty to explore evolution; their own, that of their materials and applications and of course, what the art itself has to say and teach us…I think your work is beautiful -with a depth and a tension that is indicative of your inner passage – so I thank you for sharing it! May 2013 be a dream-filled adventure full of challenges overcome….
Hi christyn – thank you so very much for your supportive and encouraging words – I greatly value them!
Christian, this image is full of emotive beauty.
It’s so interesting when you realize how a series of work comes together in ways you weren’t necessarily conscious of. It is a fantastic series!
Hi there Karen – I am really fired up by this series and your supportive encouragement is enormously appreciated!
Well, often the blue of a cyanotype itself seems to me a barrier, some sort of a cold blue distance, which can paradoxically provide a more intense approach to the subject.
However, I wish you a lot of creative adventures in 2013.
Many thanks and best wishes to you also!
You’re so good at creating haunting and disturbing images! Love the photo.
